Goodall Gondwe the Minister of Economic Planning and Development accused the Malawi people's laziness for the poverty of the country. He says that the wealthiest countries such as the U.S. and China work all year round which is what keeps them over the top. The average person in Malawi works in farming for three to four months and then takes eight months to go on a French leave. He says that if they are going to get above the poverty line the Malawi people first have to change their attitude about working. Only then can they become the prosperous nation that they have the potential to be.
My Thoughts on it
This reminds me of a lot of people in America today. They work for when they want to but as soon as it becomes inconvenient they change their minds and it's a hassle to them. This just shows where America is heading since most of the nation now expects to just deserve to get things without working for it such as health care and over the top social security. If we would stop and look at this and see what that creates in a country, I would think of Malawi's situation.
How It relates to The Political Life of Malawi
In order for them to become more politically stable they also have to build up a more stable economy. The more they can manage to get over the poverty line, the more independent and stable their country can be.
